What do we do?

The design process is about effectively developing your website through careful research into your industry and your competitors. It informs everything from the navigation and site structure to how visitors browse and digest the information on the site.

Our websites are designed to be effective tools for your business and exquisite experiences for your customers. Our focus is on bespoke sites that are easy to use, easy to manage and easy on the eyes!

Bespoke websites

As a design studio, we work with clients to create custom web design solutions that meet their business goals and help them stand out in their industry. All of our designs are bespoke and are the culmination of our design skill and your feedback.

E-commerce websites

We have designed websites for online shops from traditional product based shops to artisan ventures that require scalable delivery options.

Corporate websites

Content-rich, corporate websites that are designed to deliver a powerful message about your company and represent your brand online.

Membership websites

As user experience experts, we know that the success of a membership based website is in how intuitive and fuss-free the experience is for those who sign in and use your website. Membership based websites usually include tiered payment options, member profiles and private content, for example an educational instituition.

Booking and event websites

Secure booking systems for events and services are paramount with these websites, as well as simplicity for customers during the buying process.

Standard features of our websites

Web design is a different beast these days due to the years of innovation from talented designers and developers. Because of these innovations, our websites come with the following features as standard and follow the principles of the W3C.

Solid design principles

Sounds obvious but we take pride in following tried and tested design principles to give your website a visual voice and stand out from the crowd.

These include colour theory, layout principles, typography, anti-aliasing, image composition and more to provide a solid framework for the variety of content on your site.

Content management system

Our websites are built using the powerful Webflow CMS and it is core to our mission to make managing your website as easy as possible, from adding new pages to creating new functionality.

Responsive design (for mobiles)

Our standard approach applies responsive design to ensure your website performs just as well on a mobile as it does on a laptop, or jumbotron for that matter!

SEO readiness

All of our websites are created with SEO in mind, through the use of semantic code and on-page optimisation. The CMS gives you easy access to each page's SEO meta data so you can make changes as your SEO strategy evolves.

GDPR Compiant

All of our websites are GDPR compliant and give customers the options they need to choose how their data is retained and managed.

Neurodiversity and Accessibility

In order to broaden the access to your website as much as possible, we take care to provide for neurodiversity in a number of ways, from ALT tagging images appropriately, applying effective contrast ratios and using semantic code for screen readers.

Hosting

All of our websites require a monthly hosting subscription to take advantage of the powerful CMS and regular back ups. Hosting is scalable and can be adjusted as your website traffic grows.

As well as providing access to the CMS, the hosting is secure, reliable and high performance, with content being delivered via a content delivery network (CDN) to optimise page load times.

Back-ups

Your website is backed up regularly by remote servers as part of a hosting subscription and can be rolled back quickly if required.

SSL Certificates

An SSL certificate authenticates your website as secure, using the 'https protocol' and is generally a requirement. An SSL certificate can positively impact your site's SEO. Your website will include an SSL certificate.

UK based support

We provide optional support subscriptions that are designed to be simple but powerful, allowing you to lean on us as much or as little as you like. Being time based, we don't restrict the type of work we will do.

So if you pay for an hour, and we can do the work in an hour, we will. From content updates to new functionality - no limits.

Have questions?

We've done our best to answer the most burning questions but if there's something not covered here, get in touch.

How long does it take to build a website?

This depends entirely on the complexity and volume of content, but expect it on average to take 6 – 12 weeks.

Can you redesign my current website?

Absolutely! Once we have spoken to you to find out the scope of what is needed, we will propose what work is required.

Will my website work on phones and tablets?

Yes. All of our design work is responsive and adapts to the device it is viewed on to deliver the best possible experience.

How much does a website cost?

Again this comes down to what you want. Give us an idea of what you want and your budget and we'll discuss it with you, suggest ideas and find out what your customers want from your website.

Are there any extra costs involved in a new website?

There can be extra costs involved, including paying for professional photography, copywriting or video production and we can help you with that. Additionally, some specialist websites require extra modules, such as membership sites and e-commerce sites. We’ll discuss this with you at the discovery meeting so you know exactly what is required and any additional costs invloved.

What is hosting?

A domain is a type of online address that points visitors to your website, for example ‘heavymetalholidays.co.uk’. A subdomain is simply a separate section of a domain, similar to how a room is part of a house.

Can my website be scaled up?

Absolutely. Just give us a call and we can discuss new functionality and put a plan together.

Will I own my website?

Yes. The service we provide is to supply you with the design, development and structure.

How is success measured?

Typically, success is measured by increases in qualified visitors, improved search engine placement and increased sales for online shops. However, success could mean something else for you and this is where our Discovery meeting comes in to really identify what this could be.

Do you use templates?

No. All of websites are completely bespoke and are a result of our successful process of Discovery, Design, Develop and Deliver. Your website is the result of a collaboration between us and you to create something unique that serves your business.

What happens to my old website?

Usually, we will pack up your old website, including databases, photos and other content and hand it over to your as a zipped file. You can then pop it in a drawer along with your fidget spinner and that stress reliever that you thought was cool at the time.
