North Bedford Catholics are a group of churches based around the Bedford area with a large amount of groups and activities taking part in them. The site is a thriving point of contact and information for all of it’s visitors and needed to be easy to update and well organised.
A key part of the project was to consider the wide demographic that makes up the site’s visitors and allow for a range of experiences with online media.
The style takes cues from various religious themes and motifs and balances it with clear information that is accessible to a wide variety of site visitors. As part of the goals of the project, it was important to create visual fidelity and maintain informational clarity.
With a variety of events and schedules across the site, it is crucial that all of the information can be easily and quickly updated as required. The Mass times is one of those and as such, the CMS allows 'front end' editing with each update being done in one place but pushed to multiple pages.
It was important to design a UI that felt as natural as possible across all devices and enabled visitors to find the content they were looking for. Being a community based site, it was important to consider the needs of a wide variety of ages, abilities and level of comfort with digitally delivered information.
The site manages to appeal to a wide audience by including content in video form, images and text. The live streaming allows those who cannot attend to watch and feel part of the church without having to actually be there if this is not possible.
As a church, Holy Cross needed a site that could be a point of contact for newcomers and a comprehensive resource for members. It achieves it with carefully thought out navigation and structure and a variety of content types being used across the site.
