As a new company under the group umbrella of Walthew Leisure, ZAPT Laser Tag required a new website that would be familiar to other ventures within the brand but have its own distinct style.
The site is first and foremost a vibrant and bold presentation of the laser tag experience. Second to this, it was important to clearly explain the activity to newcomers as well as experienced 'taggers'. This also means keeping it inclusive to allow for the wide scope of people visiting the activity.
As with any thriving business, the site needs to be easy to edit, update and change as the business grows. The CMS needs to be rigid enough to maintain brand consistency but flexible enough to allow on-the-fly changes by staff members.
The style takes cues from gaming and cyberpunk aesthetics, picking out the vibrant blues and pinks from the brand. From a design perspective, the overall style uses the same fonts, spacings and layouts found elsewhere in the Walthew Leisure sites.
Due to the similarities with first person shooters, icons were created to represent activities such as Capture the Flag, King of the Hill and Zombie Apocalypse.
The site includes dynamic data and an easy to use CMS to allow quick updates in a single place that then get automatically pushed across multiple pages. The frontend editor gives staff easy access to quickly log in, change text, images and video and publish.
It was important to show safety information in the simplest and clearest way as preparation for laser tag sessions is a key part of the experience. The site does the heavy lifting when it comes to explaining to visitors exactly what to expect and how to conduct themselves during the activity.
The ZAPT Laser Tag venture launched and continues to grow and the website is a key touchstone for players who want to book sessions and find out more infromation.
